Hola Lucien, I appreciate your passion and concerns for humanity. I am someone who is doing almost everything that you wrote about: I founded a mostly latino, artist eco-community in 2012 in Vilcabamba Ecuador (chambalabamba.org), I have been on my own spiritual path that came from experimenting with LSD in the sixties in SF and now am living my dream, living from love, always growing and learning, my partner is a certified kundalini yoga teacher. We do regenerative agriculture, have both compost and ecological water toilets, everything is organic, we have a space for children where we help guide them to become autodidactics, etc, etc.
In my opinion, communities like ours is not the solution for humanity. The problem is in the cities, and that is what must be addressed. A very small percentage could live in eco communities and most eco communities fail, because they are expensive to build and most people are so traumatized by our cultures that conflicts are a big problem. I believe everyone needs to learn non-violent communication (cnvc.org), but that is not going to happen very fast.
I hope that you are open to change your mind and refine your comprehension, as one always should be. I am speaking from experience, and always open to a better comprehension, so if you can point out how I may have come to the wrong conclusions, I will welcome that.
Thank you dear Charles for your input, it's very welcome
I believe, at the core of it, the big issue is sensemaking. To make sense of this world, together, in order to make healthy decisions is key for any culture to build and sustain.
Due to the war on sensemaking, weaponized IA, Google, and FB funding clickbait farms, the huge dopamine screen addiction that billions of people have ( and other addictions), and dozens of other systemic, political, social, and economical collapsed (like the supply chain issue we are seeing now and the fading of democracies being replaced by totalitarian alike despots) we are facing, in fact, civilization collapse.
I am not a dooms thinker, but we are seeing cascading collapse all over the board in all sectors. Since in a global economy, everything is connected: Your laptop is made in 6 different countries.
This means, in my words, the pyramid is coming down.
Societies are breaking down, and a hierarchic great reset is being set in place, at least, that's the intention. This is a highly top-down power structure with imposed mandates, removal of primal human inalienable rights. Exactly what we see happening all over the board. And not to mention the low-frequency fear paradigm and relentless propaganda that is doing the opposite of wisdom and love that humanity so needs.
Since the fabric of society; cohesion, values, a shared purpose, visionary leadership, is breaking down, I do believe we need to reset, but not top-down, but bottom-up.
`
I do believe circles, small-scale family businesses, local community-driven barter systems, decentralization in general, is the solution to the crony capitalist system that is having its last days and is fighting now a final round of global mass extraction without really producing value ( as is symbolized in our current mega bubble economy and record upon record of free money being printed while stocks continue to balloon)
You are right, this all starts with some kind of awareness, higher values, and present-day communities can be easily hijacked by the old system of greed, narcissism, or even sociopathy disguised with displaced toxic spirituality. Since in communities you'll find more people in vulnerable places that are more likely to be abused by sociopathic 'leader or Guru behavior that actually comes away with that behavior in the name of spirituality.
Still, I see no other choice when the bigger structures of society are coming down and are being replaced by authoritarian systems of absolute digital control.
With moving to communities I also mean to commune better, to make sense better together, that's why I started this platform, and by having these discussions we are actually making sense, I love that.
This can also be done in cities, for sure. It is inviting collective intelligence by coming together, opening our systems, dealing with our pain and trauma. This is part of a wider heart awakening that I feel is going on at the same time.
There has been a huge denial of pain and truth in our culture, that now is even completely based on a lie. This can't hold for long.
I do envision some kind of entropic unraveling of our current crisis where the energy is quite literally redistributed from the top of the pyramid, to a more neutral system of distribution and exchange. Without this happening, the system will implode and we will experience a true civilization extinction event.
But this won't happen, we are wiser than that, hopefully
Our Mega Cities are equally cancers of the earth, where huge amounts of energy are sucked out from the environment. and materialized in our contemporary pyramids; skyscrapers. They are symbol of predatory capitalism, wanting to reach to the sky, believing there are no limits to growth on a finite planet.
Of course, there are limits, we are experiencing them right now.
So I predict a further implosion of our civilization, meaning people have a simple choice... to surrender to authority to run your life, or to embrace your own authority and sovereignty what ever the consequences.
we are facing unprecedented times where old systems are growing obsolete, and new structures are not being set in place yet, so we are in a story in between stories, to quote Charles Eisenstein.
All we can do is come together, make sense of it all, work and live from higher valuers, choose love over fear, realize why we are here for in this timeframe, create something new when we feel it, inspire each othe, give hugs and work on our self-development, be compassionate, use our imagination to envision the new, and slowly but steadily change our story of culture, from lack to abundance, from isolation to being inter-connected, to embrace our true humanity
So yes, in cities this can happen too, but the infrastructure, the culture, the story in many cities still represent the old story of competition for never enough money with everybody else, leaving many feeling isolated, being drugged down by social media, and NetFlix, and facing becoming a useless class since Covid forces them jobless, leaving many high on chemical happiness, in their compound, or flat or real estate that will become soon too expensive to even rent.
I see the reverse happen when millions will leave cities and actually choose for a simpler lifestyle, more connected to nature, to finally start giving back from a more regenerative consciousness.
At least, that's what I am doing, and you too, and many people I know. That's great,.t will work in the end. It's a free choice anyone can make, but the consequence is leaving the matrix... and that might be a tough cookie still for many, since the system made them a debt slave. I completely understand that. That's a hard choice, but it's still a choice.
The more people jump over, the more this will happen:
From a newfound autonomous awareness and wisdom and love, and heart connection, and better sensemaking, and small-scale robust decision making for the community, the village, on a local level, we will start building up ground up.
This will eventually lead to new social technologies (I facilitate one called heart IQ, www.heartiq.org, and I also facilitate men circles), better education, and eventually a cultural renaissance.
Can't wait for that to happen and the massive global party of freedom we will be able to experience. I say 2032.
Very well written. This can shift the path of many people.

At the same time, I have been and continue to be a radical anarchist activist. Here is a conversation recorded Nov. 22, 2021: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ljo0AQnqNsc&t=104s.
